Weekending, as is the newly coined verb, goes something like this: eggs royale at brunch, light shopping in Selfridges, cocktails at some bar where the DJ is pals with Alexa Chung and an acute Sunday hangover that can only be resolved by an organic, vegan, Nutri-bullet-blended smoothie.
Okay so not all our weekends go quite like that… but the art of ‘weekending’ in style is a challenge I am very much willing to take on. And of course, it starts with the outfit.
Weekend looks, for me, aren’t about compromising on style – or any casual look in general for that matter! To dress stylishly whilst running around in the day is just as, if not more, important than looking good for the occasional night out. But all that being said, it’s hard to find the balance between comfort and style.
Fortunately I’ve discovered these trainers from Pull & Bear, which are not only incredibly comfy and so warm, but also only cost £25.99! At this time of year I am usually consumed by an ankle-bearing phobia that only permits me to wear thick wooly socks and over-the-knee boots. But this game-changing pair of padded, rubbery plimsolls means that I can wear the jeans/trainers combo with abandon, keeping my feet so snug that bare ankles don’t even cross my mind!
As the seasons steadily change, there’s nothing that I love more than layering up with wintery accessories. The beanie hat saw a major comeback last winter, and is still going strong this autumn/winter too. Paired with unique gloves, these added details completely enhance a simple knit and denim look.
So whether you’re out brunching at The Ivy Chelsea Garden, or actually just taken hostage in your local pub; a dash of knitwear, a sprinkle of denim, and a selection of well-chosen accessories will always work.
