I’ve never been someone who believes that you have to use high-end beauty products and makeup to always look good- it’s all about the right application and colours! And let’s face it, at that price range, I’d rather go and buy myself a new top at Zara! But when it comes to treats and gifts, I fall hook, line and sinker under the magical spell of designer makeup. The choosing, the sparkling shop, the gift wrapping and the unwrapping reawaken those tummy tingling feelings you have as a child at Christmas. So today’s post talks you through some of my favourite luxury beauty products, and the enchantment behind them…
There’s no better place to start than with Chanel: fashion’s mecca. Be it makeup, fragrance, bags or jackets, Chanel remains the reigning champion of luxury. Never compromising on style, Chanel’s packaging is a firm favourite. Simple, understated yet eye-wateringly chic, the classic CCs are as iconic as they were when Coco was first at the helm. The Les Beiges powder compact on the right is seriously recommended by me. I first got this product as an 18th birthday gift, and now, on the eve of my 21st, the powder has not cracked, the mirror is still in tact and I still have about half of the product left. Although you have to compromise with the brush that comes with it (it doesn’t pick up much product!), this is the most elegant compact to whip out wherever you are. The left hand compact is simply a double mirror (one side normal and one side magnified); it’s really lightweight and slim, making it the perfect accessory to slot into your bag! P.S. It’s such a great gift idea too!
This Dior eyeshadow palette was part of a set that came with Diorshow Iconic Overcurl mascara. These colours are perfect for a classic smokey eye – you’ll be relieved to know there’s not a fleck of glitter in sight *phew* but it still adds mega impact. There’s also a cute little mirror inside for all the girls on the go too!
Having never used Dior mascara before, I was blown away by this Diorshow Iconic Overcurl. For the past few years I’ve been wearing YSL Babydoll, which is ideal for huge, nighttime lashes; but Diorshow offers an alternative for those occasions that you want great lashes but don’t want them to be the focal point of your makeup. Striking a harmonious balance between smooth and thick, the product grips onto your eyelashes without clumping!
My three staple nail colours are bright red, purple and pinky nude. As my style is based around modern yet classic pieces, these shades are the perfect match to any look! Having never worn nude until I received Chanel ‘Secret’ as a gift a few years ago, I am now a complete convert! I’m not sure if they still sell ‘Fantastic’, and I’ve come to the end of the product myself, but the bottle still looks great on display as an extra ornament!
Finally, just a few pretty extras! I love having nice soaps and candles out in my bathroom, and with their pretty packaging, these products are ideal! The candle was a present from a local shopping complex, Cedar Farm (make sure to pay a visit there if you’re ever in the North West!), the body foam is French Connection and soap is from Home Sense. I’ve found that Home Sense is the best place to buy some luxury products at a cheaper price, the shop is so crammed with goodies that you’ll never come away empty handed!
