Lydia’s Secret | Hair and the VS show

As the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show commences in Paris this evening, it got me thinking about the show and what it does for us mere mortals. While I think their #bodygoals are unattainable for most women (personal trainers, super-food diets, free time to workout), what VS does promote, or at least try to promote, is a happier, fun side to the fashion and beauty industry. Somewhere along the line, I think fashion has been confused for something far more serious, and we need to remember that it’s an industry of creativity, energy and most of all, entertainment.

I’m a firm believer that how we look on the outside affects our mood on the inside (and if you don’t believe me then you should catch me on a wintry Tuesday afternoon huddled inside wearing my dressing gown with greasy hair – my mood isn’t so great then…). That being said the same is true vica versa; if you’re feeling positive and happy on the inside, it usually radiates through to your outer self!

Making an effort and looking your best is all well and good, but it can’t be done without the help of a few special products here and there. As I expressed in my last post beauty post, I’m definitely no expert in the field. I’m one of those ‘find what you like and stick to it’ kinda gals. But recently I’ve been on the look out for the perfect everyday shampoo and conditioner because quite frankly my hair was feeling lack lustre and going greasy almost as soon as I’d washed it.

I’d heard on the blogger-vine that sulphate free was the way to go, as this ingredient can be damaging not only to the hair follicles, but also to your scalp. I’ve always loved trying ‘blonde’ products because as every blondie will know, maintaining this colour and avoiding that dreaded ‘mousy’ shade is practically a full-time job. Sexy Hair Sulphate Free Bombshell  Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner promises to prevent colour fade and leave hair shiny. Yeah, I know what you’re thinking, that’s a big promise to live up to, right? But after the first wash I was blown away. Worried it was a fluke, I used it again every day and continued to be impressed with the results: shinier, healthier hair without it feeling weighed down and full-of product!

Given that I’m such a beauty-cynic, whenever I actually am impressed, you’ll know that I am seriously impressed. My hair is naturally very straight and soft, so whenever I want to create volume I struggle and my style drops out by the time I leave the door. But, it seems, Sexy Hair strikes again with their Big Sexy Hair What A Tease Backcomb In A Bottle which creates instant, real volume without stickiness that weighs your hair down.

So if you’re feeling those winter blues setting in already, don’t forget to get-up, get dressed and use your Sexy Hair products – I promise you’ll be feeling like an Angel in no time!
